Posted 9/26/07BAKERSFIELD - Bakersfield Police raided have the home of a local homebuilder accused by some of
his clients of taking their money and running. The
Bright Water Way home of Donald Juhasz was searched Tuesday, according to Bakersfield Police.
No arrests have been made, and no charges
have been filed.
Juhasz
created DMJ Customs in 2005. Since then, close to a dozen people have come forward saying Juhasz took
money and didn't complete work.
Ammanda
Meek says she and her husband paid $25,000 cash and took out a $500,000 loan. They
say they paid the money to Juhasz and he didn't do the work. Today, their home is just a frame and a roof.
Meek
says the house now has $60,000 in liens, mostly from sub-contractors who say they never got paid for their work.
Juhasz's
attorney, Bill Slocumb, declined to comment.
Another
attorney, Phillip Gillet, says he is preparing a bankruptcy petition on Juhasz's behalf.
Meantime, a spokesman for the state Contractors
License Board said this afternoon the board is set to suspend Juhasz's contractor's license next Thursday if he doesn't provide
proof he has Workers Compensation Insurance for his employees. His old policy expired last month.
